Silk Stalkings: Season 01 ()

According to series narrator Sgt. Rita Lee "Sam" Lance (Mitzi Kapture), crimes of passion committed amongst the rich and famous of fashionable Palm Beach, FL, are known to the police as "silk stalkings" -- thereby explaining the name of this popular hour-long cop drama. Throughout the series' inaugural season (originally telecast on two different networks, CBS and USA), Rita is teamed with Sgt. Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes), and despite the fact that the two undercover cops are immensely attractive, they manage to keep their working relationship on a strictly-business level. Also seen during season one is Chris and Rita's superior officer, Captain Hutchinson (Ben Vereen), a grouchy traditionalist; assistant D.A. George Donovan (William Anton) who disapproves of the cops' methods and is clearly a bit jealous of their trendy wardrobes; and radio psychologist Melissa Cassidy (Kim Morgan Greene), with whom Chris has a brief romance. Among the fringe benefits of Silk Stalkings' freshman season is a lengthy dialogue passage in which we learn the turbulent life story of Rita Lance (for one thing, her birth name wasn't Lance); and the first of several cameo appearances by series creator Stephen J. Cannell, who portrays one Roy Conroy in the episode "The Sock Drawer." Hal Erickson, Rovi Hide synopsis
