Space Cowgirl Saves The Galaxy's Peace

by mehaul on Apr 7, 2010

TITLE: Barbarella GENRE: SciFi Interplanetary 40th Century Psychedelic CAST: Jane Fonda, John Phillip Law, Anita Pallenberg. Milo O'Shea, Marcel Marceau, Ugo Tognazzi, Claude Dauphin and David Hemmings PLOT: A famous Earth scientist who has the knowledge of weaponry which could send the galaxy back to having war is lost and Barbarella is sent to rescue him. Acting as diplomatically as possible (ahem) she makes her way to the rulers of the planet to finally find he is a bad guy. She leads a revolt to save the people and to save the day. RETURN ON INVESTMENT: 9 of 10; When this movie came out, the nudity was a novelty in the genre. Then it would have been a 10 but the years have stayed kind to this effort. It contains all the late 60's Hippy imagery and is a wonderful visual holiday. There is a good sprinkling of campy humor throughout. DVD BONUS: Theatrical trailer ADDED NOTES: He may have done it elsewhere, but here we get to hear the world's most famous mime (Marcal Marceau) speak lines of dialogue..
