The Ugly Duckling.....

It is hard to believe that the unloved orphan Norma Jean, whose sad , neglected voice speaks to us in this autobiography, blossomed into the woman, the actress and the starlet the world came to know as Marilyn Monroe. Written in a simple , somewhat childlike style, perhaps quite like the author, I found myself becoming fonder and fonder of her as I read on and quite enchanted with her sense of humor.As andrea Dwokin wrote in her introduction, " I wish I could have known her."
