by ThePageTurner on September 8, 2007For avid Annne Perry fans, particularly of the Thomas Monk variety, you won't be disappointed.
Marvelous at drawing characters and conveying emotions and thoughts from the slightest of mannerisms, Perry again shows her proclivity for British mysteries.
She really is a master writer.
The only drawback is that I was not nearly as enamoured with the victim as Mr. Monk or his wife. I found their emotional connection to the victim to be a bit tenuous to warrant such passionate responses from the Monks. But, then, the Monks are quite a passionate couple, despite their Victorian surroundings.
I loved the little ragamuffin's character and will be interested to see what becomes of him. Quite an extraordinary little boy.
