TJS111's review of Islands in the Stream Classic Hemingway![]() by TJS111 on September 18, 2008 When you are required to read Hemingway in college, you're usually between 18 and 22 years of age. I know I did not have a great appreciation for the depth of his talent until much, much later. I think the older you are, the more meaningful and relevant he becomes. The depth of his experience and detail of narrative style is astonishing."Islands in the Stream" follows the life of an artist, a painter and his family in the Gulf Stream Islands from the boys' teen years in the thirties until World War II. Events are tragic, true to life, heroic and petty, funny and moving. This is a truly great book.
