I have enjoyed a two-volume, hard dover edition of Grave's Greek Myths for over 40 years, and wished to buy a copy for a friend who was getting married. I searched the web but cold not find anything I could afford--the two-volume edition being now a rare book!
So, I ordered the Penguin edition, soft cover. When it arrived, I discovered that the soft cover was so soft that it had been damaged severely in the mailing of it. Also, it was "perfect bound," i.e., glued, and so would not survive more than a few years use.
Penguin was once a fine publisher. This item was a disgrace. (I ended up giving my copy to the bride; I am very old and she is not.)
