by dADDo on April 24, 2007I'm an architect and I purchased this book as so many had recommended it but it stayed on the shelf for six months unread as a quick leaf through made me think it was a bit supperficial. Why I don't know but how wrong I was!
The little tome put together a number of ideas about people and architecture that had been floating around in my head since forever but never connected or resolved. Not original thoughts by me so much as snippets of comments by lecturers, books and other locations.
The copy I have is 1977 edition so I'm not sure if "new"books are simply a repeat or undated?
So easy to read...great.
All I can say is buy it as it ays a lot in simple jagon less language what many of us believe - the problem with modern architecture is it doesn't relate to human scale or sensibilities, particularly residential. Given the insights written in 77 and the reality of today they were prophetic IMO.
