Excellent for technique
by dADDo on April 15, 2007I bought this book sight unseen based on the title alone and in principle shows one how to paint flowers using glazing/transparent watercolour.
After reading it I don’t the patience or inclination to apply the techniques espoused as they are terribly fiddly and developed from photographs and tracing, but each to their own.
I must say the author/artist’s direct use of colour is good and her explanation of colour principles and use is one of the clearest and most concise I've seen…full marks there.
On further positive note, the craftsmanship and attention to detail cannot be faulted and is an excellent “how to do” example for any budding artist to develop these skills (which I find sadly lacking in most contemporary artwork).
I have no regrets in purchasing the book for my library as a reference but have a look it first if you are not interested in a form of artistic photo realism.
