Great old-fashioned science fiction
by Matthew on December 17, 2007When I was a child I loved Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia; as a teenager, I loved his space trilpgy, of which this is the first book. The story is engaging and the writing good, if a bit old-fashioned. To be honest, fiction was not Lewis's strongest point; his theological writing deserves that honor. His fiction, the space trilogy more than the Narnia books, tends to be rather metaphysical, which some readers may not like as well, though I never found that the metaphysical aspects detracted from the story much, if any.
