Excellent translation

This verse translation of Dante's Inferno is the nicest of any I have read. Prose translations of a poem such as the Inferno lack some of the spirit a good poem can have; on the other hand, many verse translations seem forced or unnatural. In this translation Pinsky adapts Dante's original rhyming and metrical schemes to English beautifully, yielding a translation of great poetic beauty that makes Dante's genius as accessible as possible for English readers.
