by Sam on July 20, 2013Having now read The China Study I understand the purpose and relevance of this book ( I bought them in the wrong order!)
The China Study is strong stuff, explaining away the myths and untruths that we are constantly bombarded with by the media, governments and 'health' organisations. It explains the links between western diet and the diseases that we suffer from and what steps we need to take to live a healthier life. Minimise animal product consumption and maximise wholefood plant consumption to avoid, halt or reduce many diseases.
This cook book gives easy to follow recipes of such foods and is very useful in helping remould habits that have become ingrained over the years. As a meat eater, reducing and eliminating meat from my diet is a challenge. Here, I have numerous ideas as a basis that can be added to, improved on and expanded at my diet evolves. It includes recipes that use canned foodstuffs which is slightly surprising, though a lot quicker than soaking things from dry and annoyingly measures everything in cups, which for vegetables varies the quantities enormously depending on the size they are cut up. Overall a useful wholefood vegan cook book.
