Class Act:William Haines
by John T K on July 19, 2010I bought this book because William Haines fascinates me. He was one of America's top movie stars in the 1920s and early 1930s and then moved on to run a highly successful interiror decorating business until his death in 1973. "Class Act" focuses on his 2nd career. While Haines had no formal training in this field, he had innate good taste and a sense of what "worked". The many full page photographs in "Class Act" illustrate this beautifully. Haines' work included rooms in the Whilte House & a total makeover of the American Embassy in London. The authors of "Class Act" who worked with Haines emphasized that his work reflected the importance of rooms, house & landscaping working together to produce a total effect. Haines was a remarkable man, & I'm glad "Class Act" is part of my collection.
