Pan Not Panned
by ReadsConstantly on May 27, 2010My daughter shared this book with me when she was visiting and I loved it so much I had to have my own copy. There is a lot of deep 'stuff' in this book; a book written humorously and insightfully, bringing out so many things to have to 'think about.' I thoroughly enjoyed it and have attempted to read many others of his works. This one, though, seems to stand out in my opinion. Maybe the way he writes in each is too similar and becomes tedious before he gets to the story. This one had everything! Gods, immortality, time travel...and lots of fun. I have actually recommended it to several friends in my book club, though I didn't choose it for our group since I had already read it. If you are into things that are intriguing and thought-provoking, a little 'out of the ordinary,' then this book is for you! Tom Robbins reminds me a little of Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe) and Jasper Fforde (Thursday Next novels). He is 'out there' and fun to follow into the bizarre and unfathomable! ;o)
