julieCS's review of The Queen's Fool Engrossing Ellizabethan period novelby julieCS on May 6, 2010 Philippa Gregory's masterful grasp of the Elizabethan/Tudor period and her riveting storytelling is as evident here as in other books of hers that I have read. The main character is perhaps more sympathetic than in some other of her books, plus there's less sex and violence (well, it seems to have been a violent period!), so I found it a more wholesome read. I feel no desire to read it again, as I do some other books, but if you want an engrossing read and you like this period, you've got a good one here.
