Explains why we are there
by charger on December 31, 2009I view this book as a companion piece to Bacevich's Limits of Power. The New American Militarism is a scathingly honest appraisal of America's use of military power. The book begins with the Vietnam war and continues to our present day involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bacevich offers a balanced and non partisan assessment of the underlying assumptions that have led America into a state of constant warfare. He provides a detailed history of the rise of neoconservatives and their influence on our present day military policy. This is an important book that should be read by all Americans whatever their political ideology.
