Nothing special

Not being overly familiar with Jackson's life, this book presented me with much new information. The problem is that it was not organized very well - one would expect a historical biography to flow linearly, but this book jumps around alot early on, hardly exploring his pre-Presidential days, and then rushes through Jackson's first term, focusing on only a few key issues and making little mention of others. Also, some of Meacham's writing is very awkward - even after reading some passages over and over, I still couldn't make any sense of what Meacham was trying to say. All the criticism aside, it isn't a terrible book either, but I would bet there are probably better bios of Jackson out there.
