by sd6161 on October 6, 2007Le Ly Hayslip was a child when the Vietnam War reached her village. Although she ultimately escaped Vietnam and made a life for herself in the United States, she could not escape the trauma from the horrors she experienced personally and witnessed against her family. Regardless of the era, protests, war crimes, POW's, MIA's, she was also a victim loosing personal dignity, family, culture and her chilhood. Despite these many losses, her story is a triumph in the belief of the human spirit. During a time when war is so frequent on a world wide basis, Hayslip's book sheds hope for children who are now victims. This book is a good read and discussion topic for high school students aware of the many world wide crises.
