The Bible bound into individual books.

Mina Oglesby

I am looking for a set of small hardcover books...the entire Bible, but bound into separate books. Does anyone have any idea where I could find a set? I saw a set in an antique store 40 years ago?

Could you be talking about something like a Daily Study Bible series such as that by Professor William Barclay (1907-1978). You can see some of the volumes of this set here at Alibris at

although I don't really think it would be this particular set since it is a seventeen volume series on the New Testament only and, since you said "the entire Bible" above, I would assume 'your set' includes both the Old and New Testaments.

Another possibility is the Anchor Bible set published by Doubleday. It has been reprinted several times in both hardcover and softcover, see some of the individual copies here at Alibris at

Do you have any other information to share, approximate number of volumes, approximate size, the Bible itself or a study guide/commentaries (although I suspect it is the Bible itself from what you said) or .... It might narrow the field.

In any case, good luck.

If you are still looking for these I found some at an antique store in Andalusia, AL (today actually). The name of the place was Sweetgum Bottom Antiques. The cool thing was that the books of the Bible were in a box made by D.F. Duncan. The books were made in San Fracisco which I found interesting because he is known for popularizing the yoyo after seeing them on a trip to San Francisco in the 20's. So that kind of made me wonder if he had bought the books himself while there and made a box especially for them. I wanted to buy them but the owner wanted $400 which was definitely out of my price range.

I am looking for the same thing. I want a set of smaller hard-cover books that together make up the entire Bible. But I want them modern, not antique. I'm so surprised no publisher is doing it.

I am looking for the same thing, but with soft cover. My parents bought me a boxed set (KJV) many years ago from World Publishing Co. of New York. My brother lost his set and is trying to replace it.

Er, there is no such thing as "The Bible." There are several hundred different versions, revisions, redactions, etc. Which revision are you looking for?
