Andrea Camilleri writes wonderful books that have intriguing stories; language that makes one smile; captures a place and its atmosphere, not forgetting the food, that also speaks volumes of what I believe is Sicily. I love all his books and can hardly wait for the next. All the detective series are equally unique and are a great read; go one buy one you wont be sorry.
You will definitely enjoy spending time with the droll Inspector Montalbano as he investigates a kidnapping on the island of Sicily. While searching for Susanna Mistretta's abductors, he deals with bumbling colleagues, media hungry for scandal, a painful gunshot wound, and a prickly relationship with his girlfriend. (As usual, he finds respite in good food.)
Andrea Camilleri's novels are delightfully evocative of Sicily, full of humor and insight into human nature.
