Blount's excellent writing and usually subtle humor, (at times his humor is raucous, and always entertaining) provides an unusually accurate description of the two important parts of the world for any Southerner, the South and the North....of the USA that is. He is at times hilariously funny; more often he simply sweeps the reader along with a soft and always courteous style, a style which even "feels" Southern. Whether writing of food or manners or MarK Twain, Blount is absolutely worth reading.
