The thrill of a flint-tipped arrow from your very own hand-crafted bow piercing a target at fifty yards; the crisp smell of a night sky and the glittering constellations viewed from your own treehouse; the air whipping your face as you hurtle downhill in a go-kart; the pride of tying a decent bowline knot, or making a battery from vinegar and coins. That's what boyhood is all about. Beyond the Playstation and Gameboys, there are real adventures to be had, skills to be conquered, and conker fights to be won. Conn and Hal Iggulden have compiled the ultimate dangerous book for boys. Everything, any boy could ever yearn to know is here: every essential fact of life from identifying beetles to crafting the perfect water bomb; from how to juggle to how to become a champion football player, tricks with coins and understanding the solar system, to ancient artillery history, classic stories of courage and impressing girls. From the daft to the daring, to the frankly downright dangerous, it's all here. After all, it's what makes a boy - Danger! Real boys thrive on it.

Very clever, tough to put down. Only defect is that it's mainly for men&boys.

Sorry to have bot the book on CD.
Narration is dull and uninteresting. My son lost interest immediatley and I fell asleep. This was to keep us entained on a Summertime Roadtrip and hopefully give us some ideas to do with our scout troop. If I had bot the book, my son could have skipped through and found something to look at as well as read for himself.

Buy book not audiobook
I accidently bought the audio CD for my son. BIG mistake! He would have liked the book because he loves the things that it talks about but as it is he listened to the part on 'girls' and he was done. He wants the BOOK
Publishers Weekly, 2007-08-13 This abbreviated version of the bestselling book from across the pond ambitiously tries to live up to its billing as "the perfect book for every boy from eight to eighty." Though younger boys will find much to ponder in such "Questions About the World" as "How far away are the stars?" and "Why is the sky blue?," as well as profiles of super-courageous people, they may find denser passages on famous battles of the world (Hastings, Crecy, Lexington and Concord) a bit slower going. Wyman is a game tour guide to all things boy, infusing his narration with a `did you know...?' enthusiasm that will hook a broad listenership. Sections on girls and first aid (including CPR and setting breaks) are also meant for a slightly older crowd, but lots of boys of varying ages (and their dads) will find this enlightened nonfiction compendium of essential guy stuff hard to resist. In addition to the wealth of information provided, Conn Iggulden reminds listeners in a brief afterword that being a man ultimately means being honest, loyal, kind and unselfish-oh, and "keeping clean, body and mind."
