I resisted buying and reading this novel because I did not like the audio and book trailers for it. It did not seem interesting and I did not think anything could live up to The Lover and especially, Gabriel's woman as far as erotic, and sensual were concerned. The length of the novel also was daunting to me. However, after reading Chapter 1, I was once again hooked on Robin Schone! Ms. Schone does not seem to be a prolific writer - but what she does put on the page is amazing! Having been hooked on her minimal use of conversation between her characters in The Lover and Gabriel's Woman, I was not disppointed with this novel. Ms. Schone takes us through the emotions of two people James and Frances who meet in mid-life after each had marriages of convenience rather than love. She takes us on the journey of James and FRances with one question asked and one question answered as they get to know each other. The heat and raw emotion, (I feel), builds exponentially as they start to peel back the layers of discovering the sexual feelings of their bodies. What we are left with is sensual, erotic and raw emotions that we feel for these people as they feel it themselves. It is nothing short of amazing. The secondary character of The Men and Women's Club enhance this story and even James and the attorney he faces in court and HIS revelation are delivered to the reader one sentence at a time in a slow and methodical question and answer. I hope Ms. Schone does not take a long time to write another novel! But if so, it will be worth the wait!
