Fair. 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall First edition . Very good other than frontis engraving absent. Addresses from the second centennial anniversary of Middletown, Connecticut, which took place in late 1850. Includes remarks on the early settlers, the Pequot War, the Revolutionary War, West India trade, much more, followed by historical sketches of Middletown and surrounding communities. Dark blue cloth lettered in gilt and decorated in blind, 295 pages plus errata. Light external wear, mainly a bit of light rubbing to the corners and spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, clean pages with some scattered foxing, gift inscription on preliminary blank.
Very good. Hardback 12 mo in dark green cloth stamped in gilt and blind. 295 pages. Prepared for the centennial of the founding of Middletown Connecticutt, it contains addresses by Field and by the publisher, William R. Casey along with short histories of the communities within the township, giving biographies of leading citizens, lawyers, doctors. Not in Howes, although several similar books by the author are. A soundly bound copy with very light foxing in the margins, some pencil notes of a previous owner on the rear pastedown. The covers are lightly soiled and the corners are curled inward.
