Long Overdue

The author has shown great courage by opening a window and revealing another side to Robert E. Lee. Some may be angry that the book will chip away at the "marble hero", but putting one's preconceptions aside, it is always more interesting to see inside the real man. Lee's achievements are not diminished in my eyes. Quite the contrary, we see him as a real man whose choices are governed by his life experiences and his intellect. All in all, a valuable addition to any Civil War bookshelf.
