Simon Scarrow is at par with Bernard Cornwell. This is a well written and well researched novel. It holds the reader's attention in a compelling manner. Easy to read action novel. A must for all miniature wargamers especially Ancients aficionados. Of general interest to all historians and antiquarians.

Excellent and prompt delivery from the seller. I discovered these books not long ago and have now all nine editions which I am currently wading through.
The books are first class and dare I say the story lines could easily be made into a film or even a mini TV series. I can understand why Bernard Cornwell says that he doesn't "need this kind of competition".

Another great book by Simon Scarrow in his Eagle series. With this book we get to see more into Macro and Cato's personal lives. Simon Scarrow knows his ancient Rome, I had to google a few things to see if he was right. He was right on the money. Great Read.
