Triumph of Will over Circumstance!

by shorehappy on Jun 11, 2009

What a breath of fresh air in a world that is so willing to say "no, you can't do that!" ......WHAT? You will never listen to that drumbeat again once you have read Chris Gardner's story in his book Pursuit of Happyness. And you will rush to get the next book he has written. After reading how Gardner overcame overwhelming life circumstances to be successful at the highest level, you will want to explore that "can-do" feeling in your own life. Gardner, in his writing, is graphic, honest and encouraging to others. Read it once, keep it on your bookshelf and refer to it often. A real shot in the spirit! A+ all the way!

Inspiration..Warts and All!

by drian on Apr 5, 2007

After seeing the movie, I was keen to understand what motivated Chris Gardner through the trials and tribulations he experienced. Not surprisingly, the book is different in many parts to the true story, but still, the tale of one of an individual facing enormous challenges. I think you would need to be careful which friends you shared the book with as Gardner is quite open about his girlfriends and what he liked about them! It is a warts and all story, and some of Gardner's problems do seem to be self inflicted. A great read!
