Breathtaking Book

by TheReader on May 17, 2007

Gary Berntsen's code name in Afghanistan was Jawbreaker, which he used for the title of his book. After 23 years with the CIA, including Afghanistan, he retired and wrote this book. Instead of deleting the sentences and words the CIA didn't like, he blacked them out and published the book anyway. It is a riveting account of how brave, unselfish men survive in battle and it is the story of how political hacks run a war from a distance and how a dysfunctional chain of command can lead to disaster. If you want the unvarnished truth about the pitiful state of our leaders, read this book. I wasn't mad before I read it. I am now. TheReader
