Loved this book!

by BellaDonna on Mar 21, 2013

If you like chatty first-person heroines with attitude, vampires, and SHOES, you will love this book! This is the first book in the series, I've read two already, and just ordered a third. Light-weight reading, and will give you plenty of smiles.

A Substitute Series

by EdenHail on Sep 3, 2009

Uh, where to start. This book is a very bland sort of read. The thrills aren't really thrilly, the action doesn't really happen and the romance is just unromantic. There are some funny bits, but far too few and the rest of the jokes forced. The main character, Betsy (great name) is a spunky blonde shoe-aholic, or at least she's meant to be. At least the author knows her character is a raving brat and tries to run with it. This book requires the reader to suspend their disbelief - mainly by using a bargepole. I kept asking in my head, "Yeah, but how often does having a billionaire best friend happen?" even though Betsy is a vampire queen. I know, I know, the most insignificant things get caught in my mind-maw, but when they do they irritate the hell out of me. For all its blandness, it's all right, for a fluff-book. For something to push back the gut gnawing cravings for the next book in the current it series. Very much like Kitty and the midnight hour and Dead until Dark.

Best way to spend a day at the beach or anywhere

"A secretary, excuse me, executive assistant, gets attacked by vampire dogs(?). Surviving only long enough to be hit by a car... while chasing down her cat. Well... actually she survived that too. Just this time she woke up a vampire. Not happy with this situation she tries, unsuccessfully, to end her un-life. Sound dreary? Not in the least, the comic complications arising from her attempts to end her existence and her journey to come to grips with this new "life style" leave you laughing. And what kind of book would it be with out a hero or two? Well how about a vampire king and a really cute cop? Need a villian? Got more than one. How about a best friend? How about two. Romance? Got it. Obsessions? Think Imelada Marcos. This is just the first in a laugh out loud series of books that will tickle more than your funny bone.

All I can say is if you enjoy reading a book straight through, love laughing outloud, get a kick out of crazy situations....this book is a must read! Very well written and the dialog will have you rolling!

The first in a brilliant series

by annamorton on May 26, 2007

I loved this book. From cover to cover it was an absolute delight to read. I am happy to say the series ust keeps getting better from here. Betsy is a wonderfull character. She may be dead and a vampire but that doesn't stop her from living. the characters around her are all 3 dimensional and enhance the world of Elizabeth "betsy" Taylor. A must have for any bookshelf
