This book is a very good review of the disgusting lengths our so-called "justice" system has gone to in order to help the criminal and NOT the victim. This book shows you case after case where the criminal is given all the rights and the victim is more often than not left with a terrible loss as well as a shocking injustice. We are raised to believe that if harm comes to us or those we love that the "legal system" will make sure we, as Americans get justice. Yes, thats what we are taught but this book and others like it show us over and over how most Americans NEVER see justice. Those who are protected are killers, murderers, thieves, crooks, child-molestors, robbers, car-jackers and especially celebrities who commit crimes. This book will show you one case after another where criminals including celebrities get all the protection and rights while the victim is left with none. In Nancy's book you will see how celebrity, high-profile lawyers turn a criminal trial into a three ring circus. You will see that the law is not fairly applied to one and all. In fact, celebrities get the "STAR" treatment and murderers walk free just because they are Movie or TV stars or famous athletes. This book is long overdue in our crime-ridden society. Who's to blame? The law and justice system. Our "justice" system is not working properly and is often misued and diluted in an often successful attempt to help the criminal get out of trouble when he is guilty as sin. Be warned though that some of the cases in this book will make you feel ill!! The treatment and protection of the criminal will stand out sharply from the lack of protection and justice that innocent victims often NEVER see!
Nancy Grace gives the reader a lot of insight into the courtoom. As an ex-prosecutor for the Atlanta D.A. office she has seen first-hand how poorly victims are treated and how the "rights" of the criminal are upheld-above and beyond the law. Our justice system lets repeat-offenders out of jail and off the hook while first time offenders and white collar crimes get the book thrown at them. Read this book if you ever have to go to court as a defendant, victim, or potential juror. Nancy will show you how slowly the "wheels of justice " turn for us average people who are usually victims. I give this book FIVE STARS! Because of this book I would now think seriously about serving jury-duty whereas before I never wanted to and have gotten excused from it. After reading this book I realize how important it is to have good, balanced, law-abiding, God-fearing people such as myself on a jury. Good people are needed on every jury so that maybe, just maybe the person on trial and the victim will both get the fair, unbiased trial they deserve. If that person murdered someone and there is guilt beyond any reasonable doubt that person should get the death penalty. On this subject as well as many others in Nancy's book, I agree with her. There is a place for the death penalty where it is right and deserved because the victim(s) got the death penalty! Why should a killer get any different treatment?!
