The author did and outstanding job. This clearly is a history book yet it flows like a novel. The book is the account of Callie House and ex-slave and her movement for ex-slave reparations after the civil war. . I was not able to put this book down and it has lead me to seek out other topic's addressed in the book. Just and excellent read, packed full of information but with the artfull writing skills of Mary France Berry you are able to digest the information with ease.
