As bad as a book can be...

by Czuken on May 17, 2007

As a Dune fan, I was happy to hear that his work will be continued. I've read some negative comments about this book, but decided to spend some money to see and judge the thing myself. Legends of Dune trilogy wasn't released in Poland, so I had to import books from USA. And I have to say that it was a serious waste of money and time. The language authors use is very plain, compared to Frank Herbert's novels. Descriptions are very poor, characters are bland, dialogues are very unnatural, sometimes pathetic. The book is very thick and very bad. I needed monthly breaks between the chapters because I just couldn't stand it, but forced myself to read it in order to be able to give a first-hand review for all those, who didn't read it yet. The Butlerian Jihad, which was mentioned in original Dune novels, surrounded by the veil of mystery now became a series of absurdly connected events. Don't touch it if you liked Frank Herbert's books. Don't touch the whole trilogy. It will save you time, money and nerves.
