Elisabeth's Farewell Gift to Us

by Dabear on Mar 11, 2012

I found this book about a year after my husband died of heart disease. It was the first work I read that actually helped me deal with the loss. This is Elisabeth's final work, written on her deathbed with the help of her writing partner, David Kessler, who is full of world-class wisdom of his own. She self-discloses at a level that she never dared before. She is writing not from the perspective of a doctor, but from that of a patient whose days are filled with endless challenge and frustration. She leaves no doubt that she knows what suffering is about. Grieving is a HEALING process that brings meaning to loss. It is a personal journey that cannot and should not be orchestrated by anyone else. It never ends, because we are never perfectly healed. If any book can help someone understand that grief has value and purpose, this is it.

Kubler-Ross

Dr. Ross's books should be recommended reading and a staple of all home libraries. Her works are extremely timely when a loved one is in a terminal situation.

Every home should have one

I've read this before, as part of my studies, so when my gran died recently I bought copies for my mum and aunt. A wonderful book, I think everyone should read it before it becomes necessary.

A friend recommended this book after my wife passed away. It was very beneficial for making my feelings and emotions have perspective. Reading this book helped me understand what i was feeling and how to cope.
