I liked this book because it makes the Bible make sense. It motivated me to actually read some of the books of the Bible that I have skipped over until now. I skipped them because they were too hard to understand what the spiritual significance was. I had gotten lost in the details. Kreeft's book gives the spiritual meaning of each book, not the history of the book, so I can understand what I am supposed to get out of it. Once I had a high level view of that, I didn't get lost. I have studied the Bible for many years without really understanding that. If you are looking for a book that tells you in 5-10 pages what each book is about, this book is a great one. You don't get a lot of that from reading what the introductory footnotes in my Bible say. The title of this book says it all! I am going to start an online Bible study for my parish using this book as a textbook. I wish it had discussion questions for each chapter, but that is not a big drawback. My friend says that Kreeft's book is used as a textbook in a local Catholic high school, so that says a lot for it.
