Inspiring Account

by cclark on Jul 21, 2009

A friend gave me a paperback copy of Walk In My Soul by Lucia St. Clair Robson, and I promptly fell in love with her writing. Ride the Wind is an excellent example of her ability to take us into the lives and hearts of the Native American people. Cynthia Parker was abducted by the Comanche as a child and becomes a member of The People. She gives her heart to the handsome young warrior who captures her and loves and cares for her new home and family. The accounts of their hardships will break your heart, and her discription of the land that is theirs will take you for a ride in the wind. A wonderful story of love, hardship, and dedication to holding on to a life style of freedom stolen, Ride the Wind is a thought provoking and heart rending read.

A FULL LIFE

by donna on Jul 17, 2007

VIVIDLY PORTRAYS THE LIFE OF CYNTHIA ANN PARKER WHO WAS CAPTURED BY COMANCHEES AT THE AGE OF NINE. THE AUTHOR TELLS THE STORY OF THIS COURAGEOUS WOMAN WHO BECOMES MORE NATIVE AMERICAN THAN SOME NATIVE AMERICANS OF THE TIME. HER STORY IS TOLD WITH ENTHUSIASM FOR THE NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE AND WAY OF LIFE. CYNTHIA BECOMES SO ENTRENCHED IN HER COMANCHEE LIFE THAT SHE IS NEVER ABLE TO RETURN TO HER ORIGINAL ROOTS. A VERY WELL PACED NOVEL THAT WILL KEEP YOUR INTEREST IN THIS REMARKABLE WOMAN.

Fairly Accurate Historical Drama

by fienyx on May 30, 2007

Ride the Wind is an imaginative, but accurate account of Cynthia Ann Parker's life and experience among the Comanches. Lucia St. Clair-Robson took what little information there is available about Parker and simply filled in the gaps. She dramatized minor areas, such as Parker's appearance, but stayed true to the major historical events. The story itself is passionately written--very difficult to put down!
