I wanted to give this to my daughter for Christmas. I gave it to her early since it did not come with all the extras I thought it would. I purposely chose a "like new option" and paid more instead of one that was not in the "like new" category. This was indeed NOT "like new". So please beware of this and with all activity books. The book itself is awesome though. My daughter loves it... and has already made some things from it. She says it is easy to understand (she is 11).

Most helpful book for learning to knit
I ordered copies of this for my Mom & sister and I found it one of the best books ever to help in learning to knit. I highly recommend it if you want to help someone learn to knit as it is all explained so simply and well. My ONLY disappointment was that when I ordered them it did not say that you would not get the yarn, knitting needles, buttons, crochet hook, yarn needle like I got when purchased it for much more. I probably would have ordered the more expensive choice if I had known what was missing.
Publishers Weekly, 2004-07-26 Summer projects turn to fall wardrobe accessories in Knitting: Learn to Knit Six Great Projects by Anne Akers Johnson. Knitting needles, yarn, crochet hook and more provide aspiring knitters with all they need to create such kid-friendly creations as a cell-phone sock, skinny scarf and hat; instructions explain the basics, then delineate each step in clear diagrams.
