"Haven't gotten very far but what I have read has made me so mad I hardly want to continue. The level of mysogony that's illuminated by this social history is staggering and depressing, but obviously, this type of work is important. We women especially should be aware of how we've been manipulated and deceived by "experts" throughout the past few centuries, but I find myself wanting to just turn a blind eye right now. I do plan to finish it, when I'm in a better mental space."
"I got most way through it, and I liked it, and some of it is a bore unless you are actually studying Women's Studies. You get a good amount of information out of it. I particularly liked how they describe the process of blooming medical world in the 1800's, and the degredation of women healers, and mid-wives. How the medical industry literally, made it illegal to mid-wife without a license, and since women couldn't go to medical school during that time, they couldn't get their licenses. The male doctors who would deliver during the time would rush the birth, sometimes reaching in and pulling the infant out, and even damaging the body and brain. CRAZY. There is a lot of information in here, and most or all of it is very interesting. Anyway, the process of degrading local healers, who knew important, and indespensible information about healing and the body is heart-breaking, and really sad.
But I didn't finish. You have to be dedicated and it's not a riveting writing style."
