Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, New York
Bad turns to worse for the Grace children, but somehow their resilience pulls them out of another sticky situation. I loved the foreshadowing in this book, which sets the stage for the final installment. Fun characters, both human and fantastic, for your children to enjoy. A masterfully woven tale. The only drawback to these books is they could've been collected into one book. The stories are short, but then for the intended audience they're probably perfect.
Publishers Weekly, 2004-04-26 The penultimate volume in The Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 4: The Ironwood Tree by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black pits Jared and Simon Grace against quarry-dwelling dwarves who have kidnapped their sister, Mallory. The children must escape these and other dangers that surface as a new arch-villain arises at the book's conclusion, prepping readers for the final installment. (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
