Interesting, but History "Lite"

This book contains many interesting facts, pieced together fairly well, but the writing style is a bit odd. The author interjects the first person occasionally, including his opinions and/or commentary, which detract from the quality of the book, overall. Better editing could have improved this work. Nonetheless, the subject matter -- especially the early history of the violin, the biographical information about Antonio Stradivari, and some of the stories of the soloists in the 19th and early 20th centuries -- held my interest.
