Among the items featured from the White House years were a late 19th-century writing desk given to Jackie by her father, a rocking horse from Caroline's bedroom, and John-John's 19th-century mahogany highchair. This book offers an insider's look at many of the items from the sale and gives the stories behind 50 of the most intriguing pieces. Photos, many in color.Hide synopsis

I hoped this book would reprint some of the Sotheby's photographs of the 2003 auction of Jacqueline Onassis' possessions, but instead it is a rehash of familiar photographs from the White House interiors. Very disappointing, given the "auction of the century" blurb. A waste of money if you're at all familiar with the subject.
If you are a fan of the late former First Lady, then this book is must. It shows her consistent, and calssic taste in furniture, artwork, and objects, revealing much of her well-formed asthete. Be it a drawing by Fragonard, a delicate armchir, or a pastel drawing of her daughter Caroline, the reader sees several sides of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy - impish, romantic, devoted mother, athlete, and equestrienne!
