Jeb was charming and witty in the previous 2 books of this series. However, when he got his own story he seemed to be drifting through life ? and a bit spoiled. Chloe Whitfield turns out to be Marshall John Lewis? daughter (Lewis died in the last book and was the love interest of the Arizona Hotel?s owner). This was one of the two major ?coincidences? that ruined the book, in my estimation.
Chloe rides up to the Triple M Ranch -- with fire in her eye; she?s looking for her husband, Jeb. There seems to be a question of whether Chloe bothered to divorce her 1st husband (Jack Barnett) before marrying Jeb. Most of the story revolves around their arguments about whether or not she is legally married to Jeb.
Thank goodness Ms. Miller added other love interests to this book because 430 pages of arguments between Chloe and Jeb would have gotten old pretty quickly.
The second (rather large) coincidence occurred in the chapter before the Epilogue. I don?t want to ruin the surprise, but it takes place on 4 July 1887. The possibility of this happening must be 1 in a billion, or so. It?s ridiculous.
Fortunately, the next story ? about Holt ? is excellent.

Book was very entertaining and gives a good picture of the old west. I would recommend this and most other Linda Lael Miller books.

Liked Jeb's story he was a so hard to convince of the truth, but the truth always wins. It kept your interest because the story plot ketp you interested and made it hard to put down. It also gave some closure to the other brothers stories. I like to read books that relate to other members of a family and gives the lates information on the rest of the family. I always pass my books on to my daughter and sister-in -law and can't wait to hear how much thy liked the story.
