The title makes no sense but the story itself is a delight! Calliope Minton is a great character: fun, spontaneous and smart. She disguises herself in various identities to get the dish on the ton for her satiric comics as caricaturist Thomas Landes. James Trenton is the typical male: tall, dark and handsome. What sets him apart is that he has been in love with Calliope before she was Calliope to him, when she was simply Miss Stafford, the plain companion to a society matron. But their attraction does not become real until Calliope disguises herself as a courtesan and mistress to Stephen Chalmers, Trenton's good friend, to get the dish on the beau monde and those who operate below the tons' polite and proper mask. Tons of fun, I really enjoyed this book. It did slow down somewhat towards the middle but just keep going for a very satisfying ending.
