Delightful Summer Reading

by Madeline on Apr 3, 2007

To Say Nothing of the Dog is a delightfully light hearted book, one that, even though there is conflict enough, will not get the reader down. The overall mood is that of a pleasant summer afternoon. The story is about time travel in futuristic England to the Victorian era and deals with assimilation to a long lost culture in a comic manner. For example, the time traveling scientists haven?t a clue as to what a pen wiper is, yet continue to buy them at jumbles in order to fit in. This novel stands in stark contrast to another one of Willis?s time travel novels, Doomsday Book, an exceedingly dark and grim venture.
