Beginning with the Pre-Raphaelites and those pivotal French artists (de Chavannes, Moreau, Redon and others) who assured the transition from romanticism to symbolism, this magnificent (and splendidly color-illustrated) work turns to examine Gauguin's contribution to the spread of symbolism, an inter Creasing and/or tears on dust jacket. Book has minor shelf wear. Very nice clean tight copy.
Near Fine in Near Fine jacket. 219 pp., many illustrations in color. Hardcover volume in fine condition, save for a pair of small bumps near the top of the spine and at the bottom edge. Dustjacket is in similar near fine condition with some scuffing and a few chips and now protected with a Mylar cover.

Bright yellow linen boards with white lettering on cover and spine, Beautiful clean and crisp pages with gorgeous full color images of art and crisp lettering, dust jacket has light edgewear most prominent on corners, very small tear along top spine with tape applied to edge.
