It's funny, but I have never actually read Beverly Cleary's other books. I actually bought this one because I liked the cover (shame! shame!) But I love it. I like how the story is told, gently and recalled in great detail, with great feeling and compassion for those who shaped her life. Having read this, I really should check out her other books for children because if they are anything like her autobiography I'll enjoy them. But this is an absorbing story, warmly and often hilariously told. I even like the font and the designs for the chapter headings - they are as quiet and comforting as the story (if that makes any sense). Nothing shocking or scary, but a delight. Hope you like it.
