In 1968 activism broke out everywhere. Kurlansky makes cogent arguments for the impact on the rest of the 20th century this year's events had. Events I thought I understood are illuminated with context and back-story; historical figures I thought I knew are given dimension and life. Accessible and Chock Full of Information!

by Sidsmom on Mar 6, 2008

I purchased this book for a course I was taking on the year, 1968. This book was intended as background material for those of us who were not familiar with these wonderfully turbulent times. This books has amazing information in it. Each chapter focuses on a specific month of the year and discusses major events that occurred. The writing style is interesting and accessible and the author wraps the reader up in the excitement of each event. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in knowing about the politics and events of this year. People of all backgrounds will enjoy this book.
