Refreshing and real history of doubters

Jennifer Hecht's treatise is superb. She supplies a background to the empty set of all religion and provides this in a very readable format that is referenced copiously. Her scholarship seems complete and the light she shines on philosophy is unique and indispensible. My perspective is from a non-religious person. It is a pleasure to read in an time approaching a repeat of the christian inspired "Dark Ages" and fundamentalism.
