You'll want pie

by Ceinwein on Jul 5, 2008

Early in this book I became concerned that the author had a biased opinion of American pie -- she was obviously biased against cream pie. Who cannot like cream pie! And would that taint her impression of cream-pie America? But I forged ahead and enjoyed the commentary on America as Le Draoulec crossed the country sampling pies (and sharing recipes). Despite finding a diminishing number of homemade pies, we can feel satisfied that the rural America visited in this book remains the America of our childhood. The book will leave you with happy memories of baking with your mother or grandmother. I predict a homemade pie will be baking in my kitchen soon ? a cream pie!
