One of the best books I have ever read about the history of the trans-Atlantic liners. If you want to know why a trans-Atlantic crossing is, for so many, much more than just five days at sea, read this account. The mystery, romance and challenge of the North Atlantic Great Circle Route is set forth in this beautifully written and well researched book. A must for anyone who is interested in ships, the sea, and in particular the unique appeal of a passage across the most dangerous ocean on earth.
