A 'Must'!

by Sherri M on Dec 8, 2011

This book is an absolute 'must' for every woman. I've made every mistake she describes - but not in future!

All right, but ...

by cartadog on Apr 27, 2008

I certainly enjoyed Ms. Argov's book ... it was funny, entertaining, and very warm in its understanding and its welcome. However, its message, albeit priceless, becomes a somewhat annoying constant mantra: "Respect yourself and you'll be respected." It's said in a variety of inspired ways; the examples, analogies, and stories are effective and poignant, but ... okay, Ms. Argov: WE GET IT. We've been "getting it" since page three. In fact, the majority of us may be suprised and a bit proud to realize we've ALWAYS gotten your "new" laws of attraction and happiness, as they're simply common sense. "Love yourself and others will love you." "Allowing others to treat you poorly is poor treatment of yourself." Hmmmm ... rocket science? I guess my junior high chemistry teacher, as well as my mom, should've been working for NASA. This isn't to say that we all live up to these mantras; just knowing them certainly doesn't guarantee we'll always apply them to situations in our lives. Yet, is avoiding to incur "a 'penile' code infraction" good advice? "Don't even kill a bug when he's around. Don't change a tire. In fact, don't even change a light bulb. (Heaven forbid, sister.)" {p.78} Ummm ... so, does HELPLESSNESS and especially "neediness" (something Argov claims to abhor) constitute attractive qualities in a woman? Rats! I planned on having steak tonight for dinner, but my boyfriend's out of town and can't cut my meat into unchokeable (sp?), toddler size pieces. Let alone wiping my chin. The book is full of grammatical errors, as well other, assumedly unintentional infringements: Argov uses a word meaning "disgusting, gross, depraved", among other things, to describe homeless people. I know ten to fifteen people without housing or shelter; I've found them neither "disgusting" nor deserving of the author's gross assumption or her UNassumed elitism. Snobbery doesn't attract men either, Ms. Argov; at least, not any man an independent, self-respecting woman wants to attract.

You Gotta Get This!

Want to know what you're doing wrong? It's in here. Short, easy to read chapters give advice on what to and what not to do. You'll be amazed to find that automatic knee-jerk reaction to men, usually scares the poop out of them!
