In its time I guess it was the "greatest game ever

I have not read the book yet.. I have watched the movie a couple of times and felt there were gaps about both Harry Varden, Frances Ouiment as well as Ted Ray. I borrowed the book from the Library and found the first few chapters heavy going and slow to comprehend the material. Then it was due back to the Library. I decided to buy it.

Very interesting and wonderful book .

I purchased this book for my husband two Christmas's ago and finally read it this January. I purchased these two books for my grandson's because they are interested in golf. But more importantly I found that in addition to golf history they would also come in contact with the history of the world in the 1800-1900's. I found it to be an extremely interesting, endearing and thoroughly enjoyable book no matter what your age.

This is a fantastic book. Well written, easy to read. Very fasinating. Grabs your attention and keeps it. It has you playing right along with the key players. This book has not only grabed my attention toward Francis Ouimet and Harry Vardon it has renewed my interest in Golf.
